The Good Garden
I was up late at night scrolling the Substack app. and I stopped on a post of a few pots in a corner of a patio. The author said something along the lines of it being a small garden but that it brought so much joy. A commenter responded about any garden being a good garden.
That really resonated with me and got me thinking. We may not all have the means to have a garden of our dreams but many of us can obtain a pot, soil and a pack of seeds. That one pot can be our own "Good Garden". Maybe the desire to grow something, anything, is what makes it good. The curiosity and anticipation can carry us a long way. I love that growing a garden can be accessible to many if the desire is there. A pot of dwarf cosmos on a balcony, an herb container garden on a front stoop. There's many possibilities.
Yes, many of us do have more than a single container of plants (it's fun!) but that could be enough if just starting out or for other reasons. Once you have the bug for plants it opens up a wonderful connection to nature and most often you fall in love.
There's still many things I'd like to learn about plants and nature. I will be doing it all from my own good garden. No matter what that looks like.

I love working in my flower garden. While pulling weeds it is such a thrill to find a new seedling. Although this year my time digging in the dirt has been limited and the weeds are taking over. I have threatened to planting a sign that reads “Native Grass”.
I love the idea of a good garden. And YES! Every garden (created and tended with love) is a good garden.
